Day 1 MotoGP test Sepang: Yamaha dominates, Honda struggling

Defending MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo has set the fastest time in the first of three days of MotoGP testing in Sepang. The champ set best time of 2:00.684, the Spaniard made 1 plus seconds gap ahead of Valentino Rossi, trailing by +1033 with his 2:01.717.

Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa trailing set third fastest with 2:01.780. Octo Pramac rider Danilo Petrucci made an excellent fourth fastest lap-time, best with 2:01.811 ahead of Ducati factory rider Andrea Iannone, who post fifth quickest lap-time. The Spaniard Hector Barbera (Avintia Racing, +1318) set sixth fastest.

Former world champion Marc Marquez made only seventh fastest, also another worst performance shows by Ducati Team rider Andrea Dovizioso, he made 13th fastest.

Suzuki speedy Aleix Espargaro set 9th fastest ahead of LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow.

Yamaha played with numerous brand new YZR-M1 for Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, plus newly positioned fuel tank.

Nearest rival Honda focusing to evaluate two different type of engine specifications with champions Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, but still they are struggling with but no clear fix to their problems yet.

The only incident made by the Irish speedy, Ducati-Aspar team rider Eugene Laverty, he is struggling with a bad injury in his right hand following crash at Turn 4,

It also seems almost certain that tomorrow Casey Stoner will be back on track, who made track debut at Sepang on Saturday with the Ducati Test Team.
